Revisiting Old Shots with New Meaning

When I have 15 minutes of my own time, after cleaning out drawers filled with lipstick from 12 years ago (it goes rancid, did you know that???) I like to play with favorite old shots and try new things. I am uploading a shot of my all time favorite place, Brunnen, Switzerland, and a shot from the balcony of our hotel room at dusk. The lake is gorgeous, the mountains surrounding it magnificent, and it’s about half an hour from Lucerne. I tried the single image HDR tonemapping, a favorite thing to do with shots that are kind of flat, then noise reducer, and ultimately, my old favorite, BuZZ. I like what happens to the plastic chairs when they are buzzed: they lose their ugliness somewhat. Aren’t plastic outside chairs an abomination?
Obviously, I need for school to end. June 3rd can’t get here soon enough, when I will briefly have a life again, and may be able to take some new shots, both in Idaho at the Ironman, and in Kent, England, at the wedding of our favorite former dogsitter. Bring on summer, and Happy Memorial Day to everyone!

Cindy, nice work…love the color and details! Glad you had some some to play with some old favorites…definitely worth your time…and I’m sure it was a nice reprieve from the craziness that you’ve had lately! I look forward to seeing you in Idaho and photographing the Ironman as well! Hang in there, June 3rd isn’t too far away (though it may seem longer than it is!)…before you know it, you’ll have a couple month for yourself and things you enjoy! I’ll write soon with our schedule and we’ll catch up!

Beautiful scene. Even the plastic chairs. So great that you two will be able to see each other in a few weeks. I’m looking forward to seeing the photo results.

Hi Mom,
Nice picture! Really fun to see you’ve become so technical with your blog and websites in the last few years. Good to keep up to ‘new’ things, it keeps you young!
Here all is well, we will celebrate Elke’s 3rd (!) birthday this weekend with a bunch of little friends for the first time here at home in Singapore. The other years we were back in Holland.
June 3rd is only 4 working days away…. Whatever you focus on will enlarge (also when this is a negative thing you focus on….) Hence, keep your focus on the fun & sweet kids in your class, include some positive activities and you’ll notice that the days will go faster! Sorry, here’s the mental coach speeking…
Big hug from the other side of the world! Sas x
